Shaleigh made drill team last night for Brewer High School. She’s been hard at work practicing for almost two weeks with the 94 other girls trying out. As more time goes on, we’ll take some photos and write more about it. Just wanted to let everyone know!

Congratulations Shaleigh Michelle!!!!!

Another Logo Design –> STOLEN!

March 28th, 2007 by Terry Apodaca

This time it’s not from LogoMaid.

For those of you that follow this blog, you know that I am also an avid sports fan. I follow mostly Texas Tech University sports, but sometimes keep up with my old HS since I have moved back to my old stomping grounds. So here’s what I found. I frequent several recruiting sites. One of them being the Scout.com network, specifically Texas Tech. While thumbing through some articles I saw something that I knew I had seen some place else. I’ll quit typing and just show you:

So, I was surfin through that site above, reading about my sports and I see this:
Scout Image

and look close at his chest, at the B.

Yep, I’d seen that before, but first I did a search for Badger Sport to see what it was all about…and to prove what I had seen. I came to this:
Badger Logo

And for the logo that I am ashamed to call out for lifting/ripping off the above logo, my old HS, my old stomping grounds, that I have just lost a ton of respect for:
Bear Logo

You know, with this trend…I am really tiring of this…and maybe it’s time for a job change? Nah! It’s getting kind of fun calling these people out. I hope I get a response from someone in the Admin offices of my old HS. Heck, their site is horrible…maybe I can offer a redesign of the entire ISD system sites! Hahaha…

LogoMaid Rips Off Dan Cederholm’s SimpleBits Logo

March 26th, 2007 by Terry Apodaca

Links across the Internet are spreading fast…so I am sure you probably already know or have read about this. LogoMaid was called out for, what is evident to everyone, the copied/lifted/what ever you want to call it…logo recently released for SimpleBits new design.

Here are a few examples that others have posted:Compared

Transition

You can also follow a long discussion on the flickr post made by Dan. Soon after Dan posted about this, John Gruber made a post that hit the front page of Digg. Not soon after I read through most of those I flipped over to one of my other frequent sites. There it was, another rip by LogoMaid, this time they hit the Godbit Project.

I am sure there’s not a lot that can be done here. I am sure it’ll all calm down after a while. But the past few months I have seen this sinking trend of rips and lifts that’s placing a cloud over this industry for me. Maybe I am getting too involved with it…and maybe I need to back off and just worry about myself and my work. But when I see well respected and internet gurus/standardistas like Dan and those at 31three.com get copied/stolen/whatever (see where http://www.thecity.org/ was lifted by this guy’s adventure site, and yes he even took the css almost completely and then in the about page said it’s all his.) I feel compelled to at least follow suit and let it be known.

So this post is my voice, and I’ll leave it at this…this post.

No HGTV Dream Home

March 21st, 2007 by Terry Apodaca

Well, we didn’t win the HGTV Dream Home. That’s ok though. I’ve got the perfect home and family with Marla, Shaleigh, Cheyanna, and Hunter. We’ll make our current home our dream home one step at a time.

As for the rest of the list…nothing to cross off yet. Maybe in the next few months I can start to purchase some of these for everyone.
