I am sure most of you that read this blog know about my Argentina post, and the subsequent Soccer Babes posts. As time went on, that post became more and more popular. So much so that people started to link to it and repost the image. I never meant for it to become that popular. I received that image in one of those chain mail forwards a while back…and thought it was worthy of a blog post.
So, as more and more attention was brought to it, you could Google the word “Argentina” and that photo would show up as one of the top results for both normal (human) search and image search. Hey, I wasn’t complaining…it was bringing traffic to my site! Then someone decided to send this to Digg and Reddit. Here’s a screenshot of the previous search results before Google took my site out of their search.
I guess enough people either complained or Google just noticed all the reports and no longer has my site associated with that search. Funny thing is, the image is still there, when searching for Argentina on the image search. What makes me mad is that it’s not MY site and image still there.
My question to Google is why? Why just my site was removed from the search and not the others? If someone from Google sees this post, leave me a comment explaining why it was removed. If it’s justified then I’ll be ok with this…but if not, I think it was an unfair thing to do to just my site and not the others that bring either the same image or similar images in the search results. So Google, why?

I am not going to turn this into a one vs the other or even a review of those that are most popular out there. I know there are tons, some full and rich with features and others that are super light and to the point (just editing text). But, when I am not at work using Visual Studio for my development, I am usually at home writing PHP, HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc…by hand.
With that, you usually want to find a nice editor that has the features you want and makes things as simple as possible to complete your task. Here’s a list of some very nice Text Editors for the PC:
Notepad++ (my editor of choice at the moment)
Intype
Crimson Editor
HTML Kit
Aptana
Notepad2
E Text Editor (they say will rival TextMate for the Mac, but I can’t justify paying for one when there are soooo many good ones out there that are FREE)
UltraEdit (again, why pay?)
The main reason I even started this article was because I was getting tired of the simple white backgrounds. Yeah, you can go in and change colors through some of the options, but it’s just not right. You can’t ever get the color scheme correct. So, I did a quick search for a nice theme for one of these editors…and since I already use Notepad++ as my primary Text Editor for my PC at home…I downloaded and installed Port of Ruby Blue theme. And let me tell you, this is one nice theme and it’s very easy on the eyes!!! I highly recommend this theme if you don’t want to spend endless hours trying to get your own theme complete.
Here are a couple I’ve used for the Mac:
Coda
TextMate
Bluefish
These two are kind of different in they are the WYSIWYG editor:
Amaya
Nvu (pronounced N-view)
And this is a nice little Suite of Products with both free Text Editor and WYSIWYG Editor: Trellian, Trellian WebPage, Trellian CodePad. They have a ton of other cool products too…go check them out!

Campaign is a combined effort on behalf of Texas Tech and the Lubbock community

Raider Power Spirit and Sportsmanship Campaign
LUBBOCK, Texas. - Texas Tech Athletics unveiled its Raider Power Spirit and Sportsmanship Campaign today designed to enhance school spirit and promote healthy sportsmanship across the university campus and the city of Lubbock.
The Raider Power Campaign is a joint effort on behalf of athletics, the university, the City of Lubbock, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and various community leaders. This is the first official organized spirit/sportsmanship campaign done through athletics and has been officially adopted by Mayor David Miller on behalf of the city of Lubbock.
Sportsmanship across the landscape of sport is increasingly becoming an issue that numerous organizations at the high school, collegiate and professional ranks are being forced to address. The Big 12 Conference has adopted a spectator code of conduct and Texas Tech’s campaign will follow closely along the guidelines set forth by the league.
“Sportsmanship and the spirit in which we support our teams are important to us,” said Gerald Myers, Director of Athletics. “We have a loyal and outstanding fan base, but there are areas of spirit and sportsmanship that can be improved.
The objective of the campaign is to promote spirit and sportsmanship by defining a popular Red Raider cheer “Raider Power” as: Honor, Respect, Pride and Tradition. Through these four simple words, Texas Tech hopes to maintain a distinct home field advantage yet unify Red Raider fans through this objective.
“Texas Tech teams are tough to play against at home,” said Myers. “That reputation must be maintained and developed for all sports, and it can be done with class and respect for opposing fans, teams and officials. Be loud and stay late and let the opponents experience a Raider Power crowd that is 100% partisan for Texas Tech. Do it with class by eliminating profanity directed toward opponents, throwing objects on the fields and courts, and other disparaging remarks toward opponents and officials.”
This comprehensive campaign will set forth to educate our fan base on the importance of being a good sportsman and raising the bar in regards to school spirit. Passion and rivalry both play major roles in the excitement of college sports but that energy should be used in a positive manner that celebrates the accomplishment and sacrifices of all student-athletes.
Through this effort, Texas Tech will bring together its student-athletes, coaches and fans to rally under one common ground and make Lubbock, Texas the home of the best fans in college athletics. Raider Power.
