Google Search - Argentina

July 28th, 2007 by Terry Apodaca

I am sure most of you that read this blog know about my Argentina post, and the subsequent Soccer Babes posts. As time went on, that post became more and more popular. So much so that people started to link to it and repost the image. I never meant for it to become that popular. I received that image in one of those chain mail forwards a while back…and thought it was worthy of a blog post.

So, as more and more attention was brought to it, you could Google the word “Argentina” and that photo would show up as one of the top results for both normal (human) search and image search. Hey, I wasn’t complaining…it was bringing traffic to my site! Then someone decided to send this to Digg and Reddit. Here’s a screenshot of the previous search results before Google took my site out of their search.

I guess enough people either complained or Google just noticed all the reports and no longer has my site associated with that search. Funny thing is, the image is still there, when searching for Argentina on the image search. What makes me mad is that it’s not MY site and image still there.

My question to Google is why? Why just my site was removed from the search and not the others? If someone from Google sees this post, leave me a comment explaining why it was removed. If it’s justified then I’ll be ok with this…but if not, I think it was an unfair thing to do to just my site and not the others that bring either the same image or similar images in the search results. So Google, why?
