Google Android

September 25th, 2008 by Terry Apodaca

Here’s my latest installment of evidence that “Google is going to take over the world” rants. well, not rants, but DAMN!

Google will be launching their Android phone in October…said to rival the infamous iPhone from Apple. The phone seems to be cool…but they made a huge mistake going exclusive to T*Mobile. T*Mobile SUCKS!

Anyway, thought you all would like to know this info: Google Android …check it out.

Clear Memory on Windows XP with simple Desktop Shortcut

September 23rd, 2008 by Terry Apodaca

This is a post for some of my more ‘geeky’ readers.

As both a developer and designer…I have to, in most situations, run various applications that are what we call Memory (cpu resources) Hogs. I’ll run one or two of my favorite Text Editors along with Visual Studio. I’ll also be running a Database Management tool like SQL Server MS and/or some other tool to help me manage my MySQL databases. And then on top of that, I’ll also have various image editing tools open too…Inkscape, GIMP, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Paint.NET, IcoFX, etc. On lesser machines you would for sure crash after a couple hrs…UNLESS you follow the instructions below to create yourself a Clear Memory shortcut.

  1. Create a new shortcut on your desktop (Righ click –> New –> Shortcut). This will start the new shortcut wizard.
  2. Insert this string %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks in the textbox where it asks you to type the location of the item.
  3. Click “Next”
  4. on the next screen insert the name of the shortcut, like “Clear Memory” and click “Ok”

That’s it. Any time you think or feel your machine bogging down or slower than usual…try this and see if it helps.

Newest Apodaca!

September 18th, 2008 by Terry Apodaca

Let me introduce you to the latest edition to the Apodaca Family, Serena Pearl Apodaca.

She was born at 6:33 PM on Friday, September 5, 2008. She weighed 9 pounds 4 ounces and was 21-3/4 inches long. I am sure both Randy and Kendra will blog about this much more than me, but I also know that they are both very tired and busy so I am posting this so that others can see for the time being.

I have to admit…she’s the best looking member of the Apodaca Family to date!

Google Chrome

September 3rd, 2008 by Terry Apodaca

Here’s another entry for the “Google is going to take over the world” thing I have been saying for a while.

Google has released a Beta version of their Browser Project called Google Chrome. I am going to check it out and see what I think of it. So far it looks good. I liked the thumbs of most visited sites like Opera does. I like how fast it is like Safari. I’ll check out more features and let you know what I think.

In the meantime…have you tried it yet? If so, what do you think?

2008 Wish List

September 1st, 2008 by Terry Apodaca

I didn’t get too many things off my 2007 Wish List…so hopefully this year I can! Check out what has changed since last year:

  • Subaru Impreza WRX (STi?) Toyota Tundra - Last year I wanted an IS350, things have changed and a Truck fuel efficient vehicle is a better option! Not that the WRX is fuel efficient…but it sure beats any SUV or Truck!
  • MacBook Air and/or MacBook Pro - I do need a new computer so either one of these would be just fine!
  • DONE!!! Go on a Vacation! We never got a ‘real’ honeymoon, and in the three years we have been together we have not been on a vacation that amounted to more than just a weekend. I want a WEEK (or more) LONG VACATION!
  • Sony Playstation 3
  • iPod Touch
  • iPhone - Still gotta have it, just not as important this year.
  • Sling Box - So me and family and friends can sling broadcasts all over the place via Internet.
  • Bowflex Revolution
  • Any on of these mid to top of the line GPS Units: TomTom, Magellan, Garmin
  • One of the coolest remotes I have seen in a very long time: Logitech Harmony One. They have many, and some that are better, but this one is just cool!
  • I’d still like one of these some day…but I just can’t bring myself to pay for it yet: Optimus Maximus keyboard
  • Wifi Signal Booster: if not this one…then at least one that can cover my entire house! Any suggestions?
  • iRobot Roomba: with any wood or tile floors…these things are dreams come true. I need one badly!

I’ll place a DONE!!! at the front of each listed item that will link to a blog post about it if I can cross it off.

There’s more, I’ll add them in time…keep your eyes out. Also, what’s on your wish list for this year? I’d love to read about them in the comments!
