Show Me Your iPhone Apps

I know most are aware of Samsung, they’ve been around for years. But, they were no Sony…until now. Starting from a black and white TV back in 1970 to now where they create HDTVs, Cell Phones, Home Appliances, computer hard drives, home and car stereos…the list goes on and on. I can remember back when you talked about those things, if you wanted a stereo you should seriously consider Sony, Pioneer, etc… Then if you wanted home appliances you would look at whorl pool and those types. You would look for specific manufactures that specialized in what it was you were looking for.

To get to the point…I think Samsung as passed most other companies, and I question if they are even better than the Sony’s of the world. Here’s why (and this could be a good start to my 2009 wish list):

Samsung CL65:

Just reading the text on those images/camera will make any technical person all giddy. First of, it has built in GPS. That in itself is freaking bad ass for a camera. I don’t know how many times I have been on a hike, wanted to take a photo, and had to constantly switch gadgets here and there because my camera just did what a camera does, takes photos. So I would have to put away the GPS, which back the did what a gps does and only that.

Not to mention that it’s 12.2 mega pixels…it boasts 5x optical zoom, 720p (30fps) movie mode, an HDMI output, and a 3.5-inch touchscreen that utilizes a Smart Gesture user interface. Are you kidding me? HD? Granted it’s only 720p which isn’t full HD but still! On top of that it has Bluetooth so that you can simply share your photos with anyone that also has a Bluetooth enabled device.

To top this nice gadget off, it comes with WIFI. Yep, you can easily connect to a hot spot and instantly load photos to facebook, flickr, etc.

Now, I don’t know if it’s a full blown internet enabled device, I don’t know how well or robust the GPS is, and I do know that other cams have similar features…but this one sounds and looks much better than the Sony version. I think the only thing this gadget doesn’t have that I would like is a phone. Hey Apple, when are you going to build an iPhone that does all this…and does it this well???

The Strickland Group

I should have posted this a while back, but it’s never too late I guess.

I also did a complete redesign of my current employer’s website » The Strickland Group. There’s a drastic change from the old site to what the new site will be. I’m done with the design, but with all the other business going on I haven’t had time to completely develop everything. So far all I have published is our Software side of the house.

Here are the iterations of the design process and what I designed and pitched to my boss. Have a look at each one, they are in order from top left to right.

The first one is still my favorite, but they decided to go with the red design, but changed it to blue. They thought it was a little more professional and was more suited towards all three divisions we have – Software, Petroleum, and Network.

The Havens Spa

We released a new site today » The Havens Spa « for a brand new Health and Wellness spa that will be opening on the 1st of September. I have never put up a Portfolio site, but now that business is growing and I am getting more and more client requests, I think I am going to design a new website for me, so that I can create a portfolio as well as a personal blog.

Here are a few screenshots of the new site I just released. Let me know what you think!
