Here’s another entry for the “Google is going to take over the world” thing I have been saying for a while.

Google has released a Beta version of their Browser Project called Google Chrome. I am going to check it out and see what I think of it. So far it looks good. I liked the thumbs of most visited sites like Opera does. I like how fast it is like Safari. I’ll check out more features and let you know what I think.

In the meantime…have you tried it yet? If so, what do you think?

CSS Frameworks

Some people can master it. Some people know only enough to get a simple style set on an HTML element. Then there are some people that just don’t have the time, so they look to something that can help speed up the development process…just like most other programming languages. This brings up the notion of a Framework where the developer can just plug into an already built Style Sheet and make his/her changes as needed.

I’ve been compiling lists in my Firefox bookmarks for years, so now it’s time to place some of the most common (and not so common) in a list on here so that the many others can reference to.

This is a slim list so far as many people are not ready to release an official Framework classification for their CSS. I don’t, but I do use the same setup across most of my projects.

If you see one that is not on this list, please let me know and I’ll keep an updated and continuous list of these much like I have done with my preferred free software post. I’d love to hear what you all have to say about these as well.

Texas Tech on Newsvine

I’ve always been a member of Newsvine since it started a couple years ago. I thought it was a brilliant idea and wished I could have done something like that. Now look at them! They’ve grown to an outstanding size at a pace that blows most other news sites out of the water. You want up to the minute news on just about anything, you can go there, sign up, customize your own news area, and watch it all come streaming into your browser. Not only that, you can seed (get it? newsvine) any articles you want. And to top it all off, you can write your own columns/articles! How sweet is that! Now just about anybody can publish. Wait, is that a good or bad thing? I’ll let you decide, go check out what I have done over there so far. Nothing of my own, but I’ve created an area for Texas Tech (Newsvine) that’s so far just been mainly sports.

I’ve also taken out the Categories list below, and switched it to something I am toying with. I am mixing the newsvine site with my site, creating an always updated area for Texas Tech. I’ll eventually move this to my Texas Tech link, but for now this is a good way to test for future reuse. Just take a look below and you’ll see a list of items that you’ll see on the Texas Tech Newsvine site.

Firefox 2.0 Early Release?

Many that read my blog and know me just a little…know that I am a huge open source supporter and absolutely despise the likes of Microsoft and other proprietary companies (talking technology and software here). I guess where I am going with that start is Microsoft has released their latest version of what they consider a web browser – IE 7. They claim this version is a lot more web standards compliant and safer (but IE is still the most targeted browser by virus creators), but I just don’t believe it. I don’t really care because most of my development will still start with Firefox, then Opera/Flock, a couple others and last will be IE because I know I will still have to hack my way through it to get it to even look similar.

On to the real reason for this post…

Yep, Mozilla has also released their most recent version of Firfox!!! – 2.0
