Inspiration – Denver Seminary

Here’s my next ‘Inspiration’ post…Denver Seminary. This site is classy. That’s really all I have to say. I’ve seen several sites that are similar in their classy look…but for some reason this one is my favorite so far. The colors, the layout, everything. They even left the design layout in 1024×768 optimized. That’s cool.

Inspiration – Principles of Freedom

I’ve decided to follow up with something (finally) that I have wanted to do for a long time. Ever since there’s been the CSS explosion and so many sites launching as a showcase for CSS/Design, I’ve wanted to do something similar. I started this post about a year ago and it’s been left catching dust in the ‘Your Drafts’ section. Now, I am going to do it…

From time to time I am going to post a new image of a design I like. As time goes on I may get into accessibility and other things, but for now I am going to focus on css designs that really catch my eye. I may also say a few words, but by no means will it be a review. I may eventually turn this into a new section on the site, but you’ve seen how the others have turned out…so I’ll leave them as posts for now with the title ‘Inspiration – [site name]‘.

The colors and overall layout is simple and effective. I like this one a lot even though

Google says paid links a no-no

Not sure what I think or what to say about this at this point since I don’t make enough off either to worry. Heck, I don’t even have a high enough page rank right now for it to (a)effect me. Here’s some news you can read about this situation.

LinkedIn Copied?

I don’t write about many of these things, like when Simplebits (Dan) had their logo ripped off, or when The City Church got it’s design stolen. But this time I haven’t seen anyone write about it.

I was perusing a couple sites that had information on being a professional blogger or just ways to make money at home and off the internet. Come on, who doesn’t want their own home based business and the opportunity to work for themself!!!

Anyway, this is what I came across:

Hey! Who’s that handsome man in that profile?

And then here’s the thief:

And it’s ironic, don’t you think? Why Do Work when you can copy someone else’s stuff? Hmmmm…

Texas Tech on Newsvine

I’ve always been a member of Newsvine since it started a couple years ago. I thought it was a brilliant idea and wished I could have done something like that. Now look at them! They’ve grown to an outstanding size at a pace that blows most other news sites out of the water. You want up to the minute news on just about anything, you can go there, sign up, customize your own news area, and watch it all come streaming into your browser. Not only that, you can seed (get it? newsvine) any articles you want. And to top it all off, you can write your own columns/articles! How sweet is that! Now just about anybody can publish. Wait, is that a good or bad thing? I’ll let you decide, go check out what I have done over there so far. Nothing of my own, but I’ve created an area for Texas Tech (Newsvine) that’s so far just been mainly sports.

I’ve also taken out the Categories list below, and switched it to something I am toying with. I am mixing the newsvine site with my site, creating an always updated area for Texas Tech. I’ll eventually move this to my Texas Tech link, but for now this is a good way to test for future reuse. Just take a look below and you’ll see a list of items that you’ll see on the Texas Tech Newsvine site.
